Lucky Trailer

"I married you for your money and you like to kill people!" An official trailer for an indie comedy called Lucky has hit the web via Yahoo. Directed by Gil Cates Jr., Lucky stars Colin Hanks as a "wannabe serial killer" who surprisingly wins the lotto. The girl of his dreams marries him for his money and, well, things get out of hand. The girl is Ari Graynor and the cast also includes Ann-Margret and Jeffrey Tambor. This actually looks quite fun, I think the young Hanks is quite a good actor and always brings some spunk to his roles. I hadn't heard much about this film before today, but check out the trailer below and give this a shot.

After Ben wins the lottery, Lucy marries him, strictly for the cash. Just as she's beginning to have genuine feelings for him, she discovers he's a serial killer whose victims all resemble her. Still, there's no way she's walking away from those lottery checks, even if it means losing her mind and re-burying all those bodies.

Lucky was directed by American fillmmaker Gil Cates Jr., of other indies like $pent, The Mesmerist, A Midsummer Night's Rave and Pass the Sugar previously. The script was written by an "SNL" writer named Kent Sublette, from a story by Gil Cates Jr. Phase 4 Films is releasing Lucky in limited theaters on July 15th.

I saw this movie at Dallas film festival. Ari Graynor gives a breakthrough bravura performance.

It's cute and really funny, but for a supposed "dark" comedy its rather uneven. Although for all the shortcomings, Ari Graynor really makes the movie as she takes totally leaves Hanks and Tambor in the dust.
